[1] Darren Millar: Bore da, bawb. Croeso i’r pwyllgor. Mae’n bleser i’ch croesawu chi.
Darren Millar: Good morning, everybody. Welcome to the committee. It is a pleasure to welcome you.

[2] Good morning, everybody. Welcome to today’s meeting of the Public Accounts Committee. We have plenty on our agenda today, most of which will be in private session. However, I will give out the usual housekeeping notices, if I may. Please turn off your mobile phones and pagers, BlackBerrys and any other electronic devices as, of course, they can interfere with broadcasting and other equipment. There are no fire alarms planned today, so if the alarm does sound, we should follow the instructions of the ushers, who will lead us to an appropriate safe place. We have received an apology for absence today from Sandy Mewies, but we welcome Christine Chapman to the meeting. Also, I note that William Graham has sent his apologies; I should mention that too.
[3] I am delighted to be able to welcome today, as an observer of the meeting, Kate Kuring from the Victorian Auditor-General’s Office in Australia. Welcome to you, Kate. I hope that we will provide a useful case study for you to be able to take back to Australia, and the potential of a visit to see how you operate, I think, will be of great interest to Members.

[4] Darren Millar: Without further ado, we will move on. We have a number of papers to note in relation to our senior management pay inquiry. We have a letter from Richard Tompkins, director of NHS Wales Employers, we have additional information from Peter Smith, from the Hay Group consultancy organisation, on senior pay, and we have an amended paper from the Welsh Local Government Association—a few tweaks have been made as a result of some inaccuracies regarding population in its previous paper. Are Members happy to note those papers? There were no objections, so we will consider those to have been noted.

[5] Darren Millar: I move that

the committee resolves to exclude the public from the remainder of the meeting in accordance with Standing Order 17.42(vi).
[6] Does any Member object? I see that there are no objections, so we will move into private session.
